Summary
A shako of an Officer of the Austro-Hungarian KuK Hussar Regiment No.5, Austro-Hungary. A pale blue, fulled wool hat with an black oil cloth crown and brim. On the front is a bird and number 1 and a black hair plume. There is an old cord passes over the front of the hat . It has a black oil cloth peak which is bound in black of the same. The fur cap or kalpak was replaced by the shako in 1865 on the grounds of elegancy and simplicity.
