Summary
A shako of a French Hussar Officer, France c.1914. The Austrian knot on the front denotes Hussars as opposed to bugles worn by Mounted Rifles. Made from a grey, fulled wool with a black shiny top, silver lace around the edge and silver Russia braid at the front. There is a metal edge to the black patent brim. A chin strap of metal links attached to a rosette at each side. Leather band on the outside of the hat band.
