Globe. A terrestrial globe, one of a pair, the other being a celestial globe, by Richard Cushee, 1731. This terrestrial globe retains its original oak and mahogany stand and is inscribed 'A New Terrestrial Globe According to the [---] Observations. Dedicated to the most Noble John Duke Montagu, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, By Your Graces most Humble and Obedient Servant Richard Cushee 1731'.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
