Summary
Mirror; Pier glass. A tall George I carved and gilt pier glass by John Belchier, 1723, the giltwood and gesso frame with two borders of strapwork and scallops on hatched ground, stepped top arch with widow's peak; surmount of scrolled outline carved with scrolling foliage, husks and pods, centred by a female Indian mask (i.e. with headdress); two bevelled plates, upper one stepped.
Provenance
Bought July 15 1723 - 'To a large pier (sic) glass 1726 Inv. (second Best Bedchamber) - 'very large Glass over the table'.
