Summary
Wall painting, either side of the overmantel. The original overmantel, a life-size plaster depiction of the Sacrifice of Isaac was removed in the late eighteenth century, although the wall either side of it retains a painted depiction of a pastoral landscape – the landscape in which Abraham found the ram caught in a thicket, and sacrificed that instead.('New Hall: Realising Intentions' by Nicholas Cooper in 'Hardwick Hall: A great old castle of Romance')
