Summary
A collection of eight stones painted by Ernö Goldfinger and inspired by the painted granite stones from Maloja by Max Ernst (see NT 112758). When five stones were lent to the Surrealism in England exhibition in 1986, they were entitled thus: Achilles (112749.5) Winatou Banana (112749.2) Quack-a-duck With yellow Timetable (112749.6?)
Provenance
Owned by Ernö Goldfinger and Ursula Ruth Blackwell, also known as Mrs Ernö Goldfinger. Purchased by the National Trust in 1994.
