Summary
A silver headdress from Keonthal, Himachal Pradesh. It is made up of chains with leaf-shaped tassels. In the centre there there are three pendants, the lowest is crescent shaped with enamel with a geometric design and baubles. The middle has turquoise and lapis lazuli inlay. The top pendant has yellow and blue enamel and is connected to the chain and hook that would have been fixed to the hair of the wearer. Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
