Summary
A caved blackwood easel from Madras. The easel is richly carved with floral and bird motifs. There are peg holes down the exterior sides of the easel; the current peg are modern and not part of the original easel. 'A carved blackwood easel - Madras' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
