A mahogany, marble-topped and gilt metal-mounted stand, or selette, French, circa 1900, in Louis XVI style. The square rouge griotte marble with a pierced gilt metal gallery edge, above friezes mounted with an applied gilt metal beaded festoon, and one with a small slide, raised on four square-section splayed and reeded legs with gilt metal square caps, and united by four up-curved stretchers topped by a gilt metal fleur-de-lis finial.
Given by Henry Hornyold Strickland (1890 – 1975) with Sizergh Castle and its estates in 1950.
