Oil painting on canvas, A Member of the Fownes Family by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656 – London 1743), 1700-10. A painted oval portrait, almost half length to right, wearing a brown coat, white cravat and short full-bottomed wig.

In Dunster Castle 1910 inventory, p. 41 as in Dining Room and as Mr. Fownes; and thence by descent; previously on loan, 1975; gift of Lt-Col Geoffrey Walter Fownes Luttrell (1919 – 2007) to the National Trust in 1981
