A Belgian lace maker costume doll seated on a wooden chair and all attached to an oval wood plinth. The plastic doll has moulded and painted facial features with moving eyes, over which are metal spectacle frames. On her grey hair she wears a cream silky bonnet edged with cream lace. Her long black velvet dress has long sleeves edged with cream lace, and a broad hem of cream lace. Over her shoulders is a lace shawl fastened with a single pearl. Over the dress is a cream lace apron. She is seated on a simple wooden chair with two upright and one cross bar and four long splayed legs. In front of her is an upright wooden post with a square top covered in red and white checked material on which is a strip of wood with a length of lace attached to it and four wooden lace bobbins.
