Woman’s bodice (part of dress SPR/DR/392/A-C). Black silk taffeta bodice with elbow length sleeves. The bodice is overlaid with black cotton net decorated with an appliqué design of black silk taffeta, cotton lace bands and cotton and silk embroidery. The outer bodice opens on the proper left side front to resemble a chemisette front and this fastens with metal hooks and eyes. Beneath is a secondary bodice opening CF and fastening with metal hooks and eyes. The bodice is trimmed at neck and cuffs with pale green velvet bands and cream embroidered net ruffles. It is further trimmed with black machine lace on the front and back of the bodice. It has a black silk taffeta sash that fastens at the proper left side with three metal hooks and eyes. The bodice is lined with black silk taffeta and boned with 13 boning strips. There is an internal waistband of cotton and horsehair (?) that fastens with a metal buckle. There is a metal hook on the internal waistband at CB.
