Summary description

Oil painting on canvas, Margaret Chambre, later Mrs George Hanbury-Williams, British (English) School, 1748. A painted oval half-length portrait of a young woman, head facing, slightly left, gazing at the spectator,with brown hair, drawn back, a single lock falling over her left shoulder, wearing a white satin cross-over décolleté dress, lined with pink, with a white lace trimmed chemise beneath.

Provenance

The portrait belongs to the Hanbury-William's family, who are direct descendants of the sitter.
