Framed black and white print. Inscribed - INTERIOR OF THE HOUSE AT WYLAM, WHERE GEORGE STEPHENSON WAS BORN. George Stephenson was born in this house on June 9th 1781. At the foot of the bed is shown the Jacobean chair, later converted to a rocking chair, which was George Stephenson's favourite chair and which accompanied him to Tapton House in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, where he spent the last ten years of his life until his death on August 12th 1848.
