Calke Abbey, Derbyshire (Accredited Museum)
Carved oak rocking horse on high wooden rockers. The horse is finely carved with open jaws, pointed ears and arched neck. It has a leather bridle on its head and a stuffed leather saddle with a side-saddle projection. His tail was missing until 2012 when it was found in a box by the housekeeping team and then was reunited with the horse. He is painted dapple grey and the rocker is green. It has a solid base and carved ends with a turned cross bar at each end.
