Summary description

Oil painting on canvas, The Girl Pilgrim Painting of a Pilgrim Girl after Alexis Grimou (Argenteuil 1678 – Paris 1733), 18th century. A half-length portrait of a young girl, turned to the loft, gazing at the spectator, holding a shell in her left hand and a long staff in her right hand, wearing a brown dress with small white frill collar, her hat adorned with feathers and a shell (?). After the painting in the Uffizi, Florence.

Provenance

acquired by the Ministry of Works from Gwendolen, Countess of Iveagh, in 1956, and transferred to the National Trust by H.M. Treasury in 1984.
