[Saved] One of a pair of Tournai Pails with banded flared sides and scroll handles, decorated with small panels of birds after Buffon (from Buffon's Natural History 1749), the birds named on the base, above centurion heads en grisaille and butterflies, the panels placed vertically between brilliant blue bands gilt with foliage and other motifs.
Probably from a service made for Philippe, duke of Orleans (the future Philippe Egalité) in 1787 Bequeathed to the National Trust in 1968 by Mrs Hannah Gubbay.
