VandA 1926 - Late 17th century Italian brocade coat, 1702-1727 cleaned by Miss Symonds of 399 Oxford Street, W1. VandA 1985 - Natalie Rothstein, material is drawloom woven, brocaded, pattern of the 1690's ie, pre Bizarre. Pocket is wrong because it has been joined, but pocket lining looks right for late 17th early 18th century. Back has been let out. Probably been washed as the red has run and brocade like this was not usually floppy. She dated the coat 1700 (circa).
