A three-quarter-length portrait of a woman, the third wife of William Watson-Armstrong, 1st Lord Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside, seated, turned slightly to the left, looking out at the viewer. Lady Armstrong is shown in peeress's robes, wearing a diamond tiara and diamond crucifix, silk dress and red velvet ermine-trimmed robe.
Armstrong collection; transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
