Item
pages
Click Order Image if you
wish to reproduce or use a digital image - high quality prints are
also available for many popular images. Follow the
On Show link
to see information about the place where the item is displayed, and
how to visit. Click More Details to see
all the information currently available about the
item. Click under Related Items to see
more items similar to your current choice - you can use this
feature to refine your search further, or to browse more
widely.
Note: information is
provided on National Trust locations and, where possible, on
external locations such as galleries and museums, where National
Trust items are currently loaned for exhibition or display.
Please treat On Show information as a guide only, and check
all access arrangements if you are planning a
visit.
Places to see these
items
Click Places to see these items -
click individual place links to find out more about a place and how
to visit. Click See search items at this
place to list your current search items at a specific
place only. Click Return to places to
go back to the list of Places which arose from
your original search.
Clear
search
To clear your search and start a new one,
click on National
Trust Collections or the oak leaf at the top
of the page, or click New Search at the
bottom of the search column.
A few more search
tips
Entering a text phrase in double quotes
will restrict your search to match the phrase exactly, e.g. "King
Edward VI". Text searches for phrases without double
quotes will also find occurrences of individual words within
the phrase.
To construct a more complex search you can
combine many filters - if you start from a Collection or Category,
pick as many options as you wish, then click the Apply to search
button and wait a few seconds. Repeat to choose again, or add any
further filters from the search column, then click Search.
Sometimes items from one Collection are
shown or stored at more than one place. Click the Places to see these
items tab after a search to see the locations where
items are currently kept - this includes the On Show places and the
Not on Show National Trust locations.
In More Search Options
you can enter 'External' in the Location search, to see a list of
all National Trust items which are currently loaned out to On Show
locations external to the National Trust. Also use
More Search Options to enter precise terms
restricted to specific fields of
information.
A Makers index can be
produced after running a search. For example, search by Category =
Horology then click Makers - you will see an index of all
clockmakers in National Trust Collections. You can also use the
Makers index to refine your search to obtain more accurate
results.
